What each route page covers
Every route page describes the roads we normally take, the traffic reality by time of day, when to add a buffer, the vehicle options and what to expect at the destination. Airport routes also explain the SMF terminals and curbside rules, so you know where you will be dropped off before you leave home.
The main corridors are few and well known: I-5 north to the airport from downtown and Natomas, I-80 from Roseville and Davis, US-50 from Folsom and Rancho Cordova, and Highway 99 from Elk Grove. Most delays come from the interchanges where those freeways meet near downtown, from weekday commute peaks and from events at Golden 1 Center and Cal Expo.
Longer trips
Sacramento to San Francisco and Sacramento to Napa Valley are the most requested longer runs. Both follow I-80 west across the Yolo Causeway. Trips further afield, including Lake Tahoe, are quoted individually in writing, and hourly service is available if you want the car to wait and bring you back.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are route prices fixed?
Yes. Every route is quoted flat before you book, and traffic on the day does not change the fare. Extra stops or a change of destination can.
Do SUVs and Sprinters cost more on these routes?
Yes. SUV starting fares are listed next to the sedan fares, and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Sprinter are quoted per trip in writing.
Is my route missing?
The list covers the most common trips. Any address in the region, and longer trips beyond it, can be quoted through the reservation form or by phone.
How early should I leave for a flight?
Each route page lists buffers by time of day. As a rule, plan pickup about 90 minutes before domestic check-in and add time for rush hour and major events.
